Here we are at Five Minute Friday where we write for fun and for feeling, pouring out words that otherwise are trapped about this moment NOW, where we are living, not so polished and beautiful but sharing. Today's word was Hope.
I couldn’t have hoped for a better house, even though we still don’t own it. It’s huge, it’s beautiful and it opens onto a big vacant block, and it’s so different from our last house; stuck in the worst street of our town with neighbours who flung poo over the fence, tried to break in and then set fire to part of the garage, without much success. ‘Recreational crime’, the police officer had said, and Stephen had laughed ‘I go for hunting for my recreation, I didn’t know that crime could be recreational.’
But, it’s not just the house that has lifted my spirits, it’s a whole new season. Last season was such a spiritual winter of pruning and repenting every second day for things that God was bringing to my memory, sorting out the past disappointments, and thrashing with the things I could have done better, and laying it down exhausted.
Now, I feel like it’s spring and I have a hope that I thought I had lost, a joy in knowing my salvation and a hope that is budding. I’m excited again and ready to share my hope, and I have answers now for what I believe. Answers that are solid, not so flaky.
(Also I was so blessed by this word from Lana Vawser, here's a snippet of what God is saying right now:
The Lord is inviting His people into encounters where they shall have such deep encounters with His heart of joy that DEFIES circumstances. I saw DEEP contentment being imparted into the hearts of His people as they SAW HIM! There were then bouts of holy laughter, uncontrollable laughter as the joy of the Lord filled them, surrounded them and BROKE OFF the chains of HEAVINESS, DISCOURAGEMENT, FEAR and DESPAIR. DEEP impartations of His joy whether it be deep contentment or laughter is bringing great freedom to the people of God.
So glad you are entering a better season. Those tough seasons are, well, tough. I've had a few myself, of late. There is always hope that we will see a better season. Stopping in from #FMFparty. I'm your neighbor there.
ReplyDeletebless your precious heart.
ReplyDeleteOut with flaky thoughts and in with faith filled ones! Jenn, FMF
ReplyDeleteWhat hope there is in moving out of the dark and into the light. Thank you for your FMF words.
ReplyDeleteI love this: "Now, I feel like it’s spring and I have a hope that I thought I had lost, a joy in knowing my salvation and a hope that is budding. I’m excited again and ready to share my hope, and I have answers now for what I believe. Answers that are solid, not so flaky."
ReplyDeleteAnswers that are solid, not flaky.. This reminds me of the exhortation in 2 Tim 4:2: "...preach the word, be urgent in season and out of season, convince, rebuke, and exhort, be unfailing in patience and in teaching..."
We all need to be ready with answers that are solid. Thank you so much! I'm here from FMF (#10) Blessings...
