Who is this Jesus?
Who comes to me
And shows me
the idols of my heart
Who almost begs me
so I can truly discover
how much greater He is
Who is this Jesus?
Who says to me
Who is My equal?"
"Have no other gods before Me!"
Who is this Jesus?
Who gave His all
For me
Who asks for nothing less
Who receives much less
But pursues me
relentlessly
anyway
Who is this Jesus?
Still carries me even now
Who longs to still carry me
And deliver me
from the idols
that hold my heart captive
Who is this Jesus?
That asks me to
Lay down those idols
That I've made sacrifices for
That have governed my priorities
That steal my time, my affections
From Him
That divide and weaken my heart
that take what does not belong to them .
Who is this Jesus?
To whom I can say
Indeed I must say
You are above all
Above all powers
Above all kings
Above all wisdom
And all the ways of man
Who is this Jesus?
Whose heart longs for me
Whose heart breaks for me
Who is breaking my heart for Him
As I come to Him
To that place of surrender
Who draws me to Himself
leads me to repentance
Who is this Jesus?
He is the Lord and most worthy of praise
He is to be feared above all gods
For all the gods of the nations are idols
but the Lord made the heavens
He is the Lord, the great God,
Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker
Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on Your faithfulness;
give me an undivided heart, that I may fear Your name. Ps 86:11
Above all wonders the world has ever known
Above all wealth and treasures of the earth
There's no way to measure what you're worth
You lived to die, rejected and alone
Like a rose trampled on the ground
You took the fall and thought of me
Above all
Thank you for sharing this with me Kath. They are words I need!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, Cindy. I need them too. Learning how demanding and destructive idols can be.
