I'm writing for Five Minute Friday and today's prompt word is COMPROMISE.
When faced with the temptation to turn stones into bread,
Jesus didn't compromise.
He didn't try to prove anything
or solve His desperate need for food.
Instead, He leaned on
His Father's truth
His Father's love
His Father's purpose
His Father's plan
When faced with the rejection
of the religious leaders
of His time,
Jesus didn't compromise.
He didn't try to prove Himself
to them
or to Himself.
Instead, He leaned on
His Father's love,
His Father's strength
to speak truth
and walk in His Father's purpose
When faced with the sin
and dysfunction
and chaos
in the life
of the sinner before Him,
Jesus didn't compromise,
didn't ignore sin to be nice,
didn't give grace without truth
or truth without grace.
Instead, He showed them
the Father's truth,
the Father's purpose,
the Father's power,
and extended to them
the Father's forgiveness.
When faced with misunderstanding
from His closest friends,
Jesus didn't compromise.
He served them,
taught them,
trained them,
corrected them,
inspired them,
loved them,
but never caved in to them.
Instead, He showed them
the Father's truth,
the Father's plan,
the Father's purpose,
the Father's power,
the Father's forgiveness.
When faced with the crushing
in Gethsemane
that brought Him
to breaking point,
to crying out in agony,
even then,
Jesus didn't compromise.
Oh, He wanted to
but instead,
He leaned into
His Father's love,
His Father's truth,
His Father's strength
to go through with the plan
When faced with beatings
and mockery
and betrayal
and with the cruelest death;
when faced with separation
from His Father
as He took on our sin,
Jesus didn't compromise.
Instead,
He leaned into
His Father's love,
His Father's truth,
His Father's purpose,
His Father's strength,
and surrendered to Him
His spirit, as He said,
'It is finished!'

When faced with the betrayal
and rejection
and beating
and sacrifice
of His beloved Son,
the Father didn't compromise,
didn't change His purpose,
didn't stop the pain.
Oh, He wanted to,
but instead
He let Him
who knew no sin
become sin,
let Him carry our shame
and guilt
and chaos,
let Him go through with the plan
that brought us redemption.
In the light of all that Jesus pushed through for us, may we also not compromise on God's purpose and plan for us, in us, and through us.
"..................let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." Heb 12:1,2
This is a beautiful Hymn of Surrender by Matt Redman
WOW!!! Very powerful!!

Jesus didn't compromise,
ReplyDeleteHe just told the truth
that He saw with His own eyes,
His vision as His proof.
He did not negotiate
with scribes and Pharisees,
for He saw their empty plate
could not serve to please
the Father's starving children
who had been lost in sin;
He saw in them the villain
who would never win,
but who only would be beaten
when Body and Blood were eaten.
Excellent! comprehensive study of Jesus and His NOT compromising, yet He loved as well. I think of the words of the song "No turning back. No turning back." Sometimes scary, but not with Jesus walking with me. Blessings!
