First

First

When I think of the word first, i think of what He's been trying to teach me over the last year or so in particular.

to ask Him first - about everything

EVERYTHING!

If my child is sick, to ask Him first about what to do, and to ask Him first to fix the child, not the medicine, not the doctor - Him first

If I hear something about a situation or person that isn't good, to ask Him first, what to do, how to pray

If someone's opinion of me is negative, but based partly on truth - instead of wearing guilt and shame and accepting that judgement, to ask Him first for His perspective, His forgiveness, His cleansing

If my child is being particularly naughty, instead of reacting because I'm tired or sick of it or busy - to ask Him first what's going on and how to deal with her

If things are difficult in a relationship, instead of getting agreement from someone else to make me feel better, to ask Him first what His thoughts are, His answers, His way forward

When I want to please someone to gain their approval or keep their friendship, to put Him first, obey Him first, follow Him first

Instead of getting someone's opinion on what I'd like to do or to try, or a decision I need to make, to ask Him first and to wait - wait first, before that decision is made, wait first for His wisdom, for His peace and direction, as promised

FIRST - this is how He has asked me to put Him first

  1. Beautiful thoughts! I also want to remember to go to God first. It's so easy to try to figure things out on our own, but so much better to go to Him first. He will give the wisdom and grace we need. :) Blessings to you! I'm your neighbor at #FiveMinuteFriday.

  3. Really appreciate reading your post. But I think the best part is that I know you authentically live out those words you write. You do genuinely try to ask him first. Privileged to know you as a friend and sister in Christ.
