I'll WORSHIP WHILE I WAIT

I'm writing for Five Minute Friday, and today's prompt word is WHILE.

So many times over the last 18 months, I've had to wait on the Lord for something - for healing, for counsel, for new understanding, for release from whatever is weighing me down, for answers, for a way forward.

That waiting can be really hard because I'm often in pain (from Him exposing some kind of wound) and because I don't understand what exactly is wrong.  Sometimes, it's because I can see something clearly for the first time and I can't fix it!      It's often a place of frustration, pain, shame and fear.

Like a patient waiting on a surgical table for the surgeon to come, I've had to get quiet in the waiting, and just believe that this Surgeon knows what He's doing and that any delay is merely His perfect timing.

And what else can you do while you're waiting, but praise Him, worship Him, thank Him that He's faithful, and declare to yourself His promises?

Often, while I'm waiting, I'll head to the river, often early in the morning, to remind myself that He is Almighty God, Elohim, and as surely as the sun rises, He will come through for me.

While I wait on You

to fix,

to heal,

to restore Shalom,

to bring me

through this valley,

I will wait with hope,

with faith,

with expectation

of Your goodness

While I wait for answers,

I will dig into Your wisdom,

Your character,

Your faithfulness,

Your promises,

Your rest,

Your grace,

Your mercy

While I wait on You,

for You,

I will trust,

I will rest,

I will listen,

I will obey,

I will get quiet

and feed on Your faithfulness

While I wait

for my answers,

I will serve,

I will love,

I will encourage,

I will give,

I will share

of Your faithfulness

And while I wait,

You work,

You reveal,

You lead,

You comfort,

You counsel,

You heal,

You restore

I’ve kept my feet on the ground, I’ve cultivated a quiet heart.
Like a baby content in its mother’s arms, my soul is a baby content.
Wait, Israel, for God. Wait with hope.   Hope now; hope always!   Ps 131:2-3  (MSG)

Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.  Ps 37:3-5

Blessed be the name of the Lord
From this time forth and forevermore!
From the rising of the sun to its going down
The Lord’s name is to be praised.  Ps 113:2,3

I often put this song on, while I wait.

When I'm at my end, You're just getting started
When I hit a wall, You just walk through
When I face a mountain, You are the Maker
So it's gotta move
When I'm out of faith, You are still faithful
When I'm at my worst, You are still good
In all of my questions, You are the answer
It all points to You

'Cause You're the God of the breakthrough
When I'm breaking down
You'll be working a way through
When there's no way out
This one thing I know, You're still on Your throne
So whatever I'm feeling
I've still got a reason to praise
Help me say
Praise, praise

  3. I'm waiting for the healing
    through the blood-red rain,
    waiting and still feeling
    the dark nadir of pain.
    I'm waiting for the sunrise,
    for surely dawn must come!
    I'm waiting with uplifted eyes
    while sitting on my bum,
    for sitting is all I can do;
    the options now are spent,
and Lord, it is all up to You,
    if it be Your intent
that I I walk as I did then
once more in the world of Men.

  4. What a beautiful testimony of God's faithfulness while we wait upon Him to be Who He is and to do only what He can do. May the Lord continue to give you grace as you walk through this season of healing, Kath. And thanks for sharing the picture of your river; it looks like an awesome place! ~Lisa, FMF #9

    1. We had 'great expectations ' as our God given theme one year, and it ended well but it was a steep learning curve in waiting well. Thanks for your encouragement, Joanne.
